Man Sandal - Adulthood.

Perth gems Man Sandal return with Adulthood, an upbeat pop-folk yell at the ominous clouds of being worse off than our parents, climate destruction, and widespread mental anxiety, but telling it all to fuck right off nonetheless.

Adulthood is the first single of the five-piece’s upcoming debut album coming early 2021.

“This jaunty jangle does a good job at disguising the internal dread lying within the track. Like the 'this is fine' meme turned to song.”

— Dave Ruby Howe, Triple J

“Extremely relatable climate anxiety content from Man Sandal.”

— Pip Rasmussen, Triple J

Wearing socks under my sandals

I don’t know how I’m expected to handle

All these adult things,

I feel my head, it’s slowly sinking

Fighting climate anxiety

With a keep cup and a brand-spanking pair of new car keys

On my one-hour commute to university

And I’m getting older but not much wiser

And by the time I’m 50 the world will be on fire

So I’m sorry that it takes a while for me to get out of bed,

Brush the hair on my head

Oh Adulthood doesn’t look too good.

Washing glasses one by one to save the water while all my friends are having fun

In the sun, at the park don’t get me started

About the expectations that have been thrust on us seemingly expectantly

And yet you don’t look that guilty

And I’m starting to get run down from this weight that you have placed between my shoulders

And I’m building the person I want to be

So let me be

And fuck off with your coal mines

And all your pollution too

And your little plebiscite along with all the things that you weren’t big enough to do

Oh Adulthood doesn’t look too good.

Adulthood don’t look too good.

Adulthood don’t look too good.

Adulthood don’t look too good.

Adulthood don’t look too good!
