Delivery Buoy.

Delivery Buoy (real name Thom Emery) has quietly honed his craft into the sonically sublime and consistently goosebump-inducing across a surprising variety of directions; common in their pursuit of excellency, purposeful execution, and vulnerability of expression.

For over eight years on Whadjuk Noongar Country (Perth, Western Australia), Thom’s amassed a diverse catalogue that sits under the broad umbrellas of electronica, ambient, and broken beat jazz, whilst also pulling from experimental and neo-classical influences.

Listening to his work feels like a much-needed release, or a gentle reminder to pause, take a deep breath or two, and smile.

His 2018 album ‘breathe slow think quiet’ attracted much local love and attention for its uplifting blend of lo-fi electronica interspersed with warm ambient moments and an eye for groove. In 2020, Delivery Buoy added yet another string in his already impressive bow through the release of singles ‘Tree Keeping’ and ‘Exercise’ - two more energetic and lively cuts rich in instrumentation and more realised rhythmically which also embraced collaboration.

Thom joined Perth nu jazz-electronic favourites Grievous Bodily Calm in 2021, and spent large parts of the pandemic in the studio working on new music, including more experimentation with modular equipment and writing and producing with other artists.

The release of Story Time in 2022 begins another exciting chapter for Delivery Buoy by sparking the start of a narrative concept embedded in his music and artistic identity through accompanying visuals in the form of animation.

In 2024, Thom will release his much-anticipated album, teased with the release of singles ‘Star Speaking / Buoy and Girl’. Taking inspiration from astronomy and anime, the project is an epic electronic journey through the cosmos, whilst keeping a close eye on things closer to home.
