Tom Brown and Brushtail - Happening EP

Ryan and Tom first crossed paths after each being called upon to play in their friend’s Super Smash Bros cover band and finding common ground in affinities for artists like King Krule, Kurt Vile, and Clairo. A few years later, both having released music with other projects and developing as young artists individually, the duo reunited in 2024 for what came to be the release of Tom’s album My Holland Street Heart on Ryan’s label Rockton Records. The collaboration sparked a drive to work on creating new music together, combining Brushtail’s production palette with Brown’s undeniable knack for melody and songwriting. The resulting first EP release ‘Happening’ came together quickly, and is an exciting collection of four songs diverse in style, drawing from bedroom pop, alternative, and nu jazz ideas, but joined by a common thread seeking honesty, joy, and coming back to the here and now.

First single ‘Backlight’ releases Friday August 23 2024. Second single ‘Happening’ releases Tuesday September 17. Full EP releases Friday October 11.
