“The five-piece brought with them their unique take on indie pop, complete with gorgeous harmonies and liberal amounts of violin. Their music was compelling and a beautiful way to start the night.”

“Probably one of my longest-running love affairs in Perth music is with these guys, Man Sandal have been killing it for a while now with their brand of jazz-folk fusion but the new direction they’ve been heading in lately is really something special. Multiple front persons and instrument changes keeps any audience members on their toes listening to these multi-talented people.”

— Charlie Wilde

There is no doubt, socks and sandals are in, and Man Sandal are set to make 2021 a big one. All five members have been raised in the thriving WA music ecosystem, forming the band at an early age.

Folk and jazz influences weave throughout an alternative sound of lush string and brass textures, an emotive push, and raw joy.

Since adding fifth member Julia Wallace, the band’s energy and emphasis has shifted up a gear, their craft growing with each release.

Two EPs and multiple singles have seen them forge a faithful live following amongst sold out headline shows, including sets at Nannup Music Festival, Fairbridge Festival, and WAMFest.

Nominated for WAM Song of the Year in 2017 and 2020, Man Sandal have also been featured on Triple J Unearthed and supported Noah Dillon on his regional tour dates in early 2020.

In the town of Bremer Bay in 2020 Man Sandal wrote and recorded part of their debut full-length release Chess Club, which arrived in July 2021.

The shores of the southern ocean provided the backdrop for an album of earnest and direct song writing, wet with emotion, energy, and depth.

The LP landed them a Local Feature Album selection from RTRFM 92.1, airplay on Triple J, and high praise from the lovely WA music community.

“I guess we’ve all written stuff thats pretty honest. Even if it’s not necessarily an autobiographical song, it’s written in a way that sort of reflects who we are as people. Which is cool because there’s four of us who are singing so you get all of the personalities. We all write parts on each others songs as well.”

“It’s a taste of everything. Clancy mentioned it the other day actually, but if you come to our show, you’re going to get five different bands in the one show. We’ve kind of got a bit of everything which is really cool.”

Man Sandal are:

David Stewart.

Clancy Davidson.

Georgia Siciliano.

Lochie Howitt.

Julia Wallace.
