Gia Como.

Crying in the club, flicking through a childhood photo album, or swimming ecstatic in the open ocean; it’s these kind of disparate but momentous emotions that emerge from the music of GIA COMO.

Jack Arbuckle aka GIA COMO first appeared on the WA music scene as Spencer Arbuckle back in 2016, garnering a cult local following and supporting the likes of Nai Palm. They’re also one half of synth pop act Miraud.

But in 2020 Jack stepped into a new era by unveiling the GIA COMO project with singles Love Myself! and A Matter Of Fact, released on local label Rockton Records.

And in 2021 they made it clear the only direction was up with Madeleine ft. Pool Boy, a bright and bold alt-pop anthem that won the hearts of many around Australia and solidified GIA COMO as one to watch. The track delved into Jack’s non-binary identity and again explored deep personal loss.

Although influences are hard to pin down, you can hear the synth pop, goth, and new wave flavours of John Maus, Yves Tumor, LA Priest, Slowdive, and Nick Cave cut through.

Their live show echoes GIA COMO’s commitment to pushing their creativity into new spaces, featuring two live dancers, make-up, and choreography. It’s a performance that has seen GIA COMO win flocks of fans in Boorloo with a string of headline and support slots and earning them sets at the likes of the In The Pines festival.

With a slew of more releases planned and exciting shows over summer coming up, GIA COMO is taking big strides and breaking new ground with each step they take.

“What Gia Como achieves on Love Myself! is a delicate balancing act between sincerity and insincerity. The words are emotional and important but coated in a layer of glam synth instrumentals that never let the pace waver.”

“Oh yess this one got me good. The swirling darkness, the dual vocals, the mix of something stylish but a bit sinister - it all adds up just right.” - Declan Byrne, Triple J

“Showcasing this personal, yet bold and distinct sound that really feels like a new wave of brilliance from the musician, full of the charm and remarkability they’ve brought with their other projects over the years.” - Pilerats
